Eternal Tour is a scientific and artistic Festival created by the Genevan association Eternal Tour onlus, promoted by the City of Geneva and Pro Helvetia Foundation, that will take place in Rome with the support of the Swiss Institute of Rome (3 - 13 July 2008), Neuchâtel (September 2009), Jerusalem (2010) and Las Vegas (2011).

The project aims to recover historical, social and cultural contents of the XVIIIth century Grand Tour, the journey made by aristocratic youth, first of all British youth, in continental Europe in order to learn about the politics, culture and language of foreign countries.

Academies and International Institutes in Rome, such as the American Academy in Rome, the Spanish Royal Academy, the Cervantes Institute, the Swiss Institute, the Institutum Romanum Finlandiae, the British School at Rome, will join the event by organizing exhibitions, performance, projections, symposiums, to favour an encounter between international cultural realities that coexist in the capital, but also between those and the citizens of Rome. The eternal city will be the scenery of a cultural encounter, as an opportunity
to develop a consideration about cosmopolitism, its actuality and obstacles in the XXIst century.
